The Melissa Eustice Memorial Invitational Meet - WHAT A SUCCESS!
Words cannot describe what a special swim meet was held on Saturday at our pool.  The Eustices were in town and made it all the more special.  County Commissioner Tom Mercer presented a proclamation from Columbia County declaring June 21, 2008 Melissa Kristen Eustice Day.  A special thanks to all that were involved in the massive planning for the meet, the great banner that was made, the decorations, the setup crew, breakdown crew, the concessions crew, the traffic controllers, the officials, including meet managers, and to the PRC swimmers that flawlessly performed duties of timers and runner.  It was an awesome day.  I have to believe that all the swimmers involved had a great time!  Congratulations PRC for hosting such an important swim meet.

Congratulations Crocodiles!  CROCS WIN!
Yes, the PRC Crocodile swimmers and coaches did a great job at the last two meets against Hammond Hills Hammerhead Sharks (351 / 222) and the makeup meet against the Houndslake Hounds (423 / 217).  Thank you to all volunteers for all the help. Keep up the good work and SPORTSMANSHIP and keep having fun!

GIGANTIC FERMATA MEET
This Tuesday, June24!  Yes, this Tuesday we will swim against the Fermata Hurricanes at the PRC pool.  Fermata will be bringing a lot of good swimmers for a great competition.  This meet is also special in that the PRC Swim Team picture will be taken prior to the meet AND it is recognition night for our high school seniors who recently graduated.  For the team picture, ALL swimmers need to arrive at the PRC pool at 4:15 pm, line up behind the starting blocks at 4:30 pm for the picture, stretch at 4:45 pm, and warm up at 5:00 pm.

Draft heat sheets should be available on the PRC Swim Team website (crocs.freehostia.com) by mid Tuesday.  Remember it is DRAFT, so please double check the latest sheets posted on the fence.

CONCESSIONS NEWS
NO ONE needs to bring water, gatorade, drinks or chips for the Fermata meet this Tuesday, unless you have already purchased them and will be unable to use them.  However, we do need fruit and snack donations.  Here are the latest changes:

Last name beginning with these letters, bring the following (remember, you can trade with another family):

  • A - K:  sweets (in ziplock bags, sell for $0.50)
  • L - Z:  fruit (in ziplock bags, sell for $0.50).

When do I bring my contribution?
If possible, please bring your drinks to Tuesday's morning practice and leave them under the concession tent. If you can loan us your cooler, please also drop it off then. That way, we can sort and have the drinks on ice when our kids arrive at 4:45 pm for their warm-ups. Bring your chilled, bagged fruit and bagged baked goods with you when you bring your child for their warm-ups. If you have trouble getting your contribution, give me a call to work out alternate arrangements.

How should they be packaged? What kinds of items should I bring?
Fruit - cut and divided in ziplock bags to sell for $0.50 each. Watermelon slices are the biggest seller. Orange slices and grapes also sell well. Bananas don't sell very well; neither do fruit cups, even with spoons attached. Swim team kids eat remainder at next practice.
Sweets -- home-baked brownies and cookies, divided in ziplock bags to sell for $0.50 each. Leftovers are frozen for next meet or given to swim team kids to eat at next practice. Sweets can be baked from scratch, refrigerated dough or a mix. (Brand-name prepackaged cookies do not sell well.)

Congratulations Coaches!
We all need to congratulate every PRC coach.  They have been doing a great job!  Our swimmers are getting better every week.  Besides covering 2 practices per day and with such a compact summer swim schedule, you would not believe how many hours they work behind the scenes to figure out which swimmers swim in each event for all the meets.  Coaches - hang in there and keep up the great work!!!

Division 1 Championship This Saturday, June 28!
The Division Championships is where all teams in Division 1 will swim against each other in a grand finale meet.  It's held at the Augusta Aquatics Center on Damascus Rd. next to the First Tee Golf Course.  There are 8 lanes.  Swimmer's names appear on the large scoreboard and help keep spectators informed of the order of finish for each heat.  We need all swimmers possible to attend!

A couple of details:

  • Warmups are at 8 am, the meet starts at 9 am.  Swimmers need to be there at 7:45 to stretch.
  • No coolers or chairs are allowed inside the center.  There are seats in the overhead for spectators and we'll set up the PRC tent outside.  Coolers and chairs outside are OK.
  • No spectators are allowed poolside (there is limited deck space).  Poolside is reserved for coaches, swimmers, officials, and assigned timers and lane coordinators.  A limited number of deck passes are assigned to each team for shepards.
  • Heatsheets will be for sale for $2.  Concessions will be provided by Hammond Hills.
  • The CSRA Swim League website (http://www.csraswim.org/) contains many more details of the meet.  To get directly to the Championship information, click here.

CSRA ALL-STAR Meet on June 29
This meet is also held at the Augusta Aquatics Center and is an invitational meet.  The top 16 swimmers in each stroke in each age group from all the teams in the CSRA Swim League are invited to swim at this meet.  We will not know who the top 16 are until the completion of the last Divisional Championship on Saturday afternoon.  This meet is held on Sunday afternoon and if you swimmer is invited, you will be notified Saturday afternoon or early night.
